Dr Lisa Watson

Dr Lisa Watson is a writer, facilitator and educator at Telling Your Stories, bringing more than 25 years of experience in education and deep expertise in kaupapa Māori, literacy, tikanga and culturally responsive pedagogy to the team.

Lisa works closely with schools, iwi, hapū and communities to help shape stories that are grounded in place, whakapapa and local knowledge. Alongside writing and facilitating projects, she helps guide the cultural integrity of our work, ensuring stories and resources are developed with care, respect and genuine connection to the communities they come from.

Lisa also plays an important role in supporting te reo Māori across our stories, including pronunciation guidance and helping the team approach kupu, names and local language with confidence and accuracy.

At the heart of her work is a belief that storytelling can strengthen identity, connection and learning, and help tamariki understand the richness of the places and people they belong to.
